TITLE: Studio Technician 
DEPARTMENT: Greenwich House Pottery 
JOB LOCATION: 16 Jones Street, New York, NY 10014 

Primary Function: 
Maintain the functioning of the physical studio. 

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate a desire to work in the field of ceramics.
  • BFA or MFA a plus.
  • Be physically fit and able to do manual labor.
  • Good social and communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to establish priorities when presented with multiple tasks.
  • Be flexible and perform needed duties as requested by the Studio Manager.
  • Willingness to modify plans and behavior when necessary to meet a goal.
  • Must achieve goals beyond minimal levels of performance.
  • Must work well without close supervision. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Adhere to a 24-hour weekly work schedule, determined among the four Studio Technicians and the Studio Manager
  • Mix, maintain and supply clay for all classrooms and maintain the reclaimed clay.
  • Mix and maintain all glazes, slips and washes needed for the studio.
  • Help load and unload all kilns and make all cone packs.
  • Assist in unloading clay and supply deliveries.
  • Answer and assist students with "studio related questions".
  • Provide staff presence for classes and help with orientation for new classes or students.
  • Maintain a good communication with your fellow Studio Technicians and the Studio Manager.
  • Help with all special events.
  • Always try to be courteous and polite to help with the morale of the shop.
  • Attend all meetings.
  • Keep Studio Manager and Administration informed of progress and problems.
  • Interact with all levels of personnel within the pottery and maintains professional relationships with our customers.
