The Children’s Safety Project (CSP) was established in 1987 to provide counseling and other support services to children and families that have been affected by physical or sexual abuse, domestic violence, and other violent crimes. The scope of the program has since been expanded to encompass other traumatic events and losses. Services are now provided for children of all ages, adolescents, young adults, and non-offending family members.

Each individual and family responds to challenging circumstances in its own unique way, such as feelings of powerlessness, shame, guilt, anger and depression. Family dynamics and living circumstances may have undergone drastic changes, and children may have no way to express their feelings other than through their behavior and school performance. The caring therapists at CSP make an assessment of each family’s unique needs and plan an individualized program that may incorporate one or more treatment methods. The focus is always on using each family’s strengths to promote healing and empowerment.
